At the BMO Vancouver Marathon last year I was lucky enough to connect with a bunch of runners from Victoria and other parts of Vancouver Island. I stay in touch with them via Twitter and Facebook and when they started talking about a fundraising calendar about running, my interest was piqued.

Today I received my very own Van Island Runners for Cancer 2012 calendar in the mail and let me tell you, it’s super. What a great fundraising idea, and it’s really well done. Kudos to @runnerskye and the entire #yyjrun group for putting together such a nice product and for raising money for a great cause in the process.
More about the calendar from their website:
“Van Island Runners for Cancer” is a 2012 calendar featuring local runners at various locations around Vancouver Island. The goal is to feature real runners of all abilities, from those relatively new to the sport to elite athletes, to show that running is an all-inclusive sport. It doesn’t matter how much you run or how “athletic” you look; if you put on your shoes and head out the door, you’re a runner.
All proceeds from the calendar sales goes directly to the BC Cancer Foundation, the organization that funds the BC Cancer Agency. Money raised by the foundation stays in BC and goes towards critical cancer research and patient care.
Want One?
I got mine through the lovely Miss September (aka @KirstySheldon), but I think you might also be able to order one online at their website and have it mailed out to you wherever you are.
